Making a puzzle out of natural materials. Hands on learning.
Area: Academic, sensory
You will need: stones, paint, paint brush
Gather some stones from around your garden or while on your walk.
Lay out the stones to make a shape, number or letter.
Then paint the shape, number or letter onto the stones. (See image above)
When the paint is dry mix up all the stones and allow the child to complete the puzzle.
If you are making more then one shape, number or letter it would be best to keep the rocks separate. For example of you make a triangle, a square and the letter J, put the triangle stones into one basket, the square stones into another and the J stones into the other just like you would with normal puzzles. This way the child will have all the stones they need to make each specific puzzle.
This is a nice activity to do indoor or outdoors in the sunshine.
